The world-famous settlement of Tokaj in the Hegyalja wine region lies at the foot of Kopasz Hill, at the confluence of the rivers Tisza and Bodrog, between the Zemplén Mountains and the Great Plain (Alföld). Tokaj has a harbour on the Tisza river. The town can also be reached by kayak and canoe on the Bodrog from Sárospatak. This area is suitable for fishing, hunting, canoe-tours, water-skiing and boating. There even is a ski slope in town. Walking and cycling tours can be enjoyed in the untouched Zemplén lands with is many monuments, castle ruins and other historical sites. Local attractions and programs: Knight Days, writers camp, wine festival, vintage, wine tasting in local wine cellars, boat trips on the Bodrog river, trips to the towns of Muhi, Miskolc, Hortobágy, Debrecen and Sárospatak. |
